Job Description

Our role as a Summer School Student Welfare Officer not only provides a chance to earn money but also to develop transferable skills for future employment, while experiencing a fun and unforgettable summer.

What does it involve?

Every year, from late June to mid-August, we welcome over 6000 young students (aged 8-17) from different parts of the world to one of our seven summer schools. Our aim is to provide them with a fun and educational holiday experience, which includes English language classes and engaging activities and excursions. Our students stay in our school residences, supported by our team of Student Welfare Officers. Student Welfare Officers are much like House Parents. They help with the pastoral and well-being needs of our students during their stay, and that's where you come in.

Locations: Bournemouth, Canterbury, Cambridge, Central London, Uxbridge, Northampton, and Oakham (famous for the Michael Owen Red Stars football school) to choose from.

Contracts:  You can choose your contract of 2-6 weeks between late-June to mid-August. You must be available within at least 2 weeks in July, as this is our busy period. As you are involved in the wrap-around care for our students, you must be residential for this contract. Great news, as you don’t need to be local to our school locations to apply! This is a full-time position, of 48 hours per week, over 6 days.

What’s in it for you as a Student Welfare Officer?

  • Board + accommodation provided as you must be residential for this role

  • 1st Aid Course as part of your training weekend, prior to the programme starting and ongoing support throughout your contract duration

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, fun and multicultural educational environment

  • Opportunity to gain experience toward a career of working with young people in the fields of education, health or care professions

  • Working with a highly experienced and supportive team

  • Opportunities to gain teaching qualifications at the end of your contract.

Pay: Basic rate of £549.12 per week + holiday entitlement

*You must already have the right to work in the UK. Read the full duties on our Job Description; this is available via our website + see our FAQs on our studyholidays.com website
